Large archives of old movie films can now be converted to modern formats for television & internet transmission. Duplitech’s services include remastering, repurposing, and re-imagining film and television libraries to keep up with evolving content landscape and elevate these legacy assets for today’s global audiences. Modernizing catalog content can include 4K film scanning, digital restoration, Dolby vision HDR color, SDR to HDR conversion, and 2D to 3D conversion. HDR (high-capacity hard disk recorder) is more important for video quality than 4K.
Adjusting the lighting, color balance, contrast and resolution can preserve and improve audiovisual quality. Improving video quality can require adjusting contrast between the brighter and darker parts of an image, adjusting color balance and lighting, and determining proper resolution. Adding more pixels can increase spatial resolution, but how much resolution is important depends on the viewer’s distance from the screen; higher resolution does not help at farther distance from the screen. Steve showed a chart of resolution versus viewer distance. He showed numerous pictures of restored old films and other creative work, and also of the many workers at their workstations.
